Super Hero Day
Burbridge School chose to support Muscular Dystrophy Australia’s Superhero week by hosting a Superhero Day, where a donation to dress up as their favourite superhero was asked for. The school created a MyCause page and before the day took place they had already raised $154 to support Muscular Dystrophy Australia.
Friday 6th September we held a whole school assembly with a wonderful performance from our Kindy and Pre Primary students. They sang “I can sing a rainbow” using Key Word sign and using their Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. Deputy Principal Natalie Campbell addressed the assembly taking a moment to thank the Burbridge students, staff and families for their support to such a wonderful cause. She spoke to the audience about what Muscular Dystrophy is and how by dressing up and raising money today that the school was celebrating every single person’s special powers. Our senior student leader took delight in collecting the donations and choosing a prize winner for best dressed costume in each class. Staff were treated to a superhero special morning tea to thank them for being superheroes every day which tied in with the week of Education Assistant appreciation (2nd -6th September 2019).
