On Thursday 11th April 2019 the senior students from Area D and F went by bus to Hillary's Boar Harbour. They were met at the jetty by the amazing volunteer staff from Fishabilities. Students spent two hours fishing on the jetty. Fishability assists children and adults requiring support to experience the joy of fishing with assistance from trained and experienced volunteers and by using purpose-built motorised rods, reels and fishing rod holders. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. They weather was perfect, the sun was shining, the fish were biting and the students had an amazing time. It was wonderful to see the delight in the students’ faces as they caught a fish. By the end of the two hours some of the students were casting by themselves. Declan and Emily were awarded with a new fishing rod each for catching the most fish. We look forward to organising more fishing trips during the year.
